I Think.......

I Think

There are 2 types of people in the world.  Those who participate, and those who watch.

Drivers who don't use turn signals should be banished forever in a land with nothing but Roundabouts. (look it up)

Stores should not be allowed to sell Christmas stuff until Halloween is over.

If you can't control your kids in a restaurant that does not have a "kids menu" ... you should get them a happy meal and eat in the car.

Cats know what we are thinking.....ALWAYS.

If you have a 420 credit score, you should not make that the car salesman's fault.

There are two seasons in most parts of the county...Winter and Road Construction.

If you commit to it, DO IT.

Anything that has more legs than me, or no legs and slithers should be avoided at any cost.

Everything in the universe is Energy.

Karma is a Bitch.

Aliens have not revealed themselves on earth because they know the first thing we will do is try to get them to vote.

If you have extra parts after disassembling and reassembling any machine, that you should put them in a drawer. Eventually you will figure out what they are for. Yup, give it time.

A watched pot never boils, but if you drop your watch in boiling water, it's probably a goner.

The shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line, unless you have to climb several mountain ranges, in which case, stay home.

Your computer will have an issue when you are on a deadline.

Gun control means you know what you are shooting at.

If you have 4000 friends on facebook, you should know the name of the person who lives next door to you.

Money is the most renewable resource.

Ask for it every day and the universe will provide.

Superman can whip Batman's Butt.

Every time you touch your smart phone screen, it sucks 1 brain cell out of your head.

If you are going to text me more than 50 words, just call.

Have a wonderful day!

A Christmas Gift

So, about 4 months ago, I had an idea. I was laying in bed at 2am, a time when all great ideas come to light, and thought about how I have worked with some awesome people here in Vegas.  I decided I wanted to do a Christmas album (or sorry, they call them CDs now) and asked several of my entertainer friends to help out.  Proceeds going to Toys for Tots.  The project is almost finished, pretty much at the mix stage.  It has been a really great time sharing my studio with all these amazing entertainers. Whats even cooler, is that I have been humming Christmas songs all summer.  THere is something "special" about singing Christmas songs when it's 115 degrees outside.

The final project should be in the box and ready for sale about the beginning of November.  It's a great home grown project. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all that have participated.  I will name names soon.  It's quite a list.  I will also provide info on how to order a copy for yourself.  Happy Holidays up and coming.

When are you too old to Trick Or Treat?

Seems like when we were kids we trick or treated until we were at least a Sophomore in High School.  This was in the 70s when we still went house to house in the neighborhood, heard the laughter of kids in the street and of course hassled the smaller kids trying to scare them. Ahhhh. Life was good.

We were cool as long as we were home when the streetlights cam on, and for us older kids, "No later than 9."  There of course, is nothing more annoying than some goblin ringing your doorbell at 10pm looking for free candy when you are already in your bathrobe and slippers. I understand that now. SO oI will apologize now to all the parent in my neighborhood who got a doorbell ring from me at 10 at night. My bad.

Now days, though, maybe the question should be when are you too YOUNG to trick or treat?  It's a dangerous world out there.  I worry about young kids walking in the neighborhood alone.  I guess that's why the tradition has gone from door to door to mall to mall or Church to Church. Safer, more controlled   but not near as fun.  At my age, I would love to go out and ask for candy...Trick or Treat.  But there's that pesky blood sugar thing.  Dentists will be busy soon though.

Have you noticed too, that it has become a huge retail thing too.  Thousands of adult costumes and decorations for your yard to rival Christmas.  It is amazing.  We have turned all hallows eve into a spooky, marketing, keeping up with the Jones yard decorating nightmare. Do you carve your jack o lantern or do you buy that plastic one with tiny night light in it?

Halloween, or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All Hallows’ Evening),[5] also known as Allhalloween,[6] All Hallows' Eve,[7] or All Saints' Eve,[8] is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide,[9] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.[10][11]
It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals which may have pagan roots, particularly the Gaelicfestival Samhain, and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween.[1][7][12][13][14][15] Some academics, however, support the view that Halloween began independently as a solely Christian holiday.[1][16][17][18][19]
Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related guising), attending Halloween costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins intojack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfiresapple bobbing and divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films. In many parts of the world, the Christian religious observances of All Hallows' Eve, including attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead, remain popular,[20][21][22] although elsewhere it is a more commercial and secular celebration.[23][24][25] Some Christians historically abstained from meat on All Hallows' Eve,[26][27] a tradition reflected in the eating of certain foods on this vigil day, including applespotato pancakes and soul cakes

So I guess the answer would be, your only too old if you think you are. There are ways to celebrate from 3 years old to 100 years old.  Dress up, have a good time, but remember that there are spirits out there that will be on the move, because the collective energy of everyone "Spooking" is the perfect place for spirits to wreak havok upon the unknowing. Happy Halloween....Be safe.

WHAT WE CREATE WILL, IN THE LONG RUN, NOT MATTER

I was walking the other day around the ball fields, which they are spending a tidy sum on perking up and I realized that all THIS that man has created...From the Roman Empire on up will all be lost when we are gone. "Life after People" ... The Earth takes care of itself. Actually, Any self respecting human would never have settled on this planet. It's not human friendly. There are earthquakes, Climate change, floods, tornados, fire, mud slides, lightning, wind, monsoons, tsunami waves, blizzards, ice storms, hurricanes, plagues, bugs, glaciers, ice ages, and spam. And what cracks me up the most is that people study these things for lifetimes, thinking that they can control any of it. None of what is here is going to matter at all a million years from now. All the gazzilions of dollars spent on building everything on the planet that is man made will some day be gone. Cave men had it good. Find a hole in the mountain, kill a saber tooth, feed the woman, have sex and live to a ripe old age of 27. They had everything they needed, and never once thought they had to go to Wikipedia for anything. What we have done in just the last 200 years has impacted the way we live more than all the history before the early 1800's. And when we are gone, it will all be reclaimed by mother Earth, who we keep trying to "save"...Truth be told, the Earth does not need saving. She will take care of herself. We are so afraid of the extinction of Man, that we try to control our environment. Heaven forbid the oceans rise, just as they have done over and over again since the beginning of time. Only difference is now there is million dollar ocean front property at stake. You know what..?? Mother Earth doesn't care about your mansion in the Hamptons. I was totally amused by people on the South East coast trucking in sand to prevent beach erosion. They truck it in, Mother Earth sucks it out. They truck in some more, Mother Earth sucks it out. Get a clue! The planet does what it wants to do, and we just need to let her breath. Truth be known, it does not matter if we use up all our oil supplies, it's not going to hurt the planet. She'll make more (out of us) when we are gone.

In the mean time, we tick along, trying to control the one thing we have not yet learned to manipulate. Nature. And when we do find the magic formula to control the environment, watch out, because Mother Nature does not like to be told what to do.
So. Happy Columbus Day.  Or, Happy Indigenous Peoples Day,  A day we celebrate when some Italian guy named Columbus had 3 ships (The Nina, The Pinta and the Santa Maria) in which he was looking for the West Indies or somewhere like that, got lost,  and landed smack in the middle of Native American land.  Oh, and he discovered America...ok, whatever.

So, because of his not so stellar navigational skills, we have no mail service, banks are closed, and a lot of businesses take the day off, except those having BIG COLUMBUS DAY sales. Another day to mark stuff up and discount it.  Yay!!   Pardon me for sounding a bit cynical, but pa-leeeez.

Anyway, enough of that.  I didn't watch the debate last night.  I figure I will get the condensed version and all the analysis I need and even more than I want over the next few days.  I will not reveal who I favor, let me say the choice isn't great.  We have entered the apex of the rise of the inferior man/woman/person/undecided.  Everyone has a designation now...Remember when we were just men and women?  People.

That is what I love so much about the music we do.  The last show we did, we did a great oldies set. 1955-1959 music. kids as young as 4 and folks in their 90s were all dancing. I even saw a kid BREAK DANCING to Peggy Sue. Imagine that.  Young, old, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, gay, straight, whatever all jamming out to music that is 70 Frikkin' years old.  That's when it all makes sense to me.  Yesterday I was in the studio finishing up track for a Christmas Album I am putting together featuring a lot of Las Vegas headliners. The Swing City Dolls  (www.swingcitydolls.com) came in and did Mela Kalikimaka with me in PERFECT Andrews Sisters harmonies.  It just felt GREAT.  Life was simpler with Bing and the Andrew Sisters, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly and a host of others who were so ahead of their time that they are still relevant today.

Happy Columbus Day.  (By the way Lief Errikson was here first)

Return of the ...Blog?

Well, It has been a LONG FRICKIN' TIME since I have even thought about this thing.  So all entries before this date should be considered null and void for the most part. (Unless you find them interesting or amusing)   New place, new life, (Same wife, thank God) and joy and happiness abounds on a daily basis.  I won't go into EVERYTHING on this Return of the (Jedi) Blog.  .("Movie reference I must have").. I will wean you back to what is up a little at a time.

I set out in the beginning to not drag my personal life into this blog unless relevant.  I refuse to put up pictures of food...or disgusting stuff. I will stay on the topic of anything and everything really.

I sell Cars now. Kias to be more specific. We will delve deeper into all that later.  Also, I now live in Las Vegas, Nevada...have been here for 5 years.  That will give you a timeline as to how long it's been since I have looked at this blog.  Still performing and loving it.  The website is www.ronnieleetwist.rocks  ... I love that dot rocks thing.

Soooooo....this entry is just a "putting my toes back in the water" blog entry.  I will try very hard to keep the entries coming.  Insights, observations, and random thought.  As I stated earlier in other posts, I try to stay away from politics, religion and offensive stuff.  In this election year, though, it is hard to not have some kind of input.  We will see if anything comes to mind.

Have a wonderful day. Thanks for reading!!

The Bird and the Cowpaddy

Once upon a time in Montana the was a small bird who did not want to fly south for the winter to see what winter in Montana was like. As the weather got colder, the small bird decided that it was not a good idea to stay in the cold and decided to fly south. As it was so late in the season, the tiny bird got colder and colder until, somewhere over a ranch in Wyoming, his tiny frozen body fell to the ground...He was about to freeze to death, when suddenly a cow came by and took a huge poo on top of the bird. The cow paddy was so warm, that it started to thaw the litte bird out, and he began to regain his strength.

As he fluttered around in the cow poop, he began to sing, because he was warm, albeit covered in crap. But he was alive and happy. Suddenly, the farm cat saw and heard the commotion coming from the pile of cow poo on the ground. The cat dug the bird out of the cow pie, .... and ate him.

So remember, If you learn nothing else from this story, it's this... Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy, and not everyone who pulls you out of shit is you friend.
