All quiet at our place

It's the year of the Cicada. Every 17 years they pop out of the ground and make new cicadas so they can go back into the ground and hang out for 17 years before the cycle starts again. Their only purpose in life is to make a hell of a lot of noise and eat everything in sight. I have had several people come by our place this week and comment on how quiet it is here....Even with the 1000 acres of woods behind us. I have found exactly 2 dead cicadas on our porch, and Tigger, out ginger Tom has managed to bring one in the house. Other than that we are cicada free, much to the overwhelming joy of our garden and flower beds. Went into Nashville today and it was loud with the critters...just a few miles down the road they are screaming at the top of their little insect lungs. But it's all quiet on the Western Front here. Now, later this summer it will be an insect cacophony only to be rivaled by a F-16 fighter jet taking off from the front yard. Hopefully we will be in Las Vegas, making our own kind of rockabilly noise by then. Uh huh huh! So, if you have the cicadas in your neighborhood, enjoy the symphony... It'll be another 17 years before you get to hear it again!
